What are your interactions with medical staff like?

I establish a relationship with the medical staff to become acquainted. Medical staff is primarily responsible for the health and safety of the mother and baby. My interactions with staff will be to ask information, if necessary. My primary responsibility as your doula is to tend to your psychosocial needs.

Do you perform any physical examinations?

As your doula, my role is to provide continuous emotional, physical, and informational support. My role is to support the mother in anyway she needs. I provide non-medical comfort measures throughout labor and birth. Therefore, I do not preform any physical or medical examinations.

How will hiring you affect my partner’s role during the birth?

Your partner's role during labor and the birth will not be affected. We will work as a team to assist you. I will provide guidance for your partner, if necessary. If your partner becomes nervous or has any concerns, I provide reassurance and suggestions for comfort. My role as your doula does not interfere with anyone else's role in your birth care team. My role does not interfere with partner's role, nor the medical staff. Each individual of your birth care team is here to work together for you and baby.
